Company Startup
-
Brian Bennet had owned and run large software development operations
in Australia for years. His businesses successfully developed software
for large mainframe and mid range platform customers. His biggest
bug bear was testing, particularly systems acceptance and regression
testing.
The problem with testing was that the software developers themselves
didn’t make particularly good testers and the testing tools available
were too complex for the business analysts and applications users who
did.
To solve the problem Brian decided to use all his experience from
running and owning software development operations to develop a
solution. So in 1988 he started Tallecom Software
in Queensland, Australia.

Automated Testing Tool Philosophy
-
The test tool design philosophy is simple.
"The test automation tool must be simple to use, simple
to learn and functionally powerful both in testing capability and
performance."
This design philosophy has never changed. We are proud that while
many of the testers using the TALC tools are highly skilled software
programmers the majority are business analysts and business
application users who have little or no programmer skills
and training.
To ensure this continues we have some very talented people who
oversee TALC2000’s development. Responsibility for usability and
ease of use of the tool is separated from responsibility for
maintaining and enhancing its rich testing functionality.

Nearing completion TALC Test Lead, a Test Design
and Management application is taking shape to deliver a system

Verification at the University of Queensland’s Software Verification
Research Centre. So watch this space, first pre-releases of some
exciting components coming soon.
