TALC2000 is based on proven TALC testing software and methodologies and
provides a rich superset of Year 2000 specific functions to support legacy
application testing:
All of the above functions are presented through simple and
consistent Windows interfaces, making TALC2000 exceptionally
easy to learn and use.

TALC2000 installation requirements
-
-
TALC2000 is installed on Win 3.n and Win 95 based PCs.
A Pentium 100 Mhz with 16 MB of memory is the
minimum recommended configuration.
- Testing is done by interfacing to Windows terminal
emulator accessing the host application to capture and
replay test.
|

|
-
PC terminal emulator support
-
- All the common Windows terminal emulators are
automatically configured for use with TALC2000.
- Less common emulators can usually be configured
without software modification, by creating specific
emulator configuration files.
|

|
-
Multi-platform testing support
-
- You can use TALC2000 to test mainframe and midrange proprietary and UNIX
platforms including IBM mainframes, AS400s, System 36 & 38, HP, WANG,
DIGITAL, ICL, Honeywell, Control Data, Tandem, ICL, etc., provided the host
applications are accessible via a PC based terminal emulator.

Test Management
-
- A unique menu system to help structure, document and
manage your tests. Tests are referenced by number
or name (up to 40 characters), not by cryptic file names.
- All test activity is logged for later analysis.
- Complete test execution history, showing test flow and
begin and end times and pass/fail for each test case.
|

|
-
Test Creation
-
- Automatic recording of test cases during manual test execution.
- Automatic generation of multiple test transactions. Variable data can
be taken from system variables or from PC text files, from comma
delimited files exported from spread sheets or PC data bases, or
from a flat file copied from your host.
- "One Click" application response recording.
- Application response "masking" to exclude fields from validation
processing.
- Test input and application response data can be easily edited
if required.
- Simple "Point and Click" script creation to dynamically
link test cases for playback.
|

|
-
Test Execution
-
- Unlimited test cases may be included in a single test playback
session.
- Variable speed test playback, with automatic adjustment to host
response times. You do not need to include fixed "wait" operations.
- "Event" processing to monitor test and system operation and
control test playback.
- Automatic test commencement at a preset time or following receipt
of a message.
- Unattended test execution.
- Real time validation allows test playback to be controlled by
application responses and individual test steps can be dropped or
re run as required during playback.
- Individual test steps can be dropped or re-run as required.

Test Validation
-
- All test output is logged for "off line" validation reports.
- Fully automatic test validation by comparing test output
to "control" data.
- Test validation options allow detailed or summary
displays of test results. All errors are highlighted.
- "Tester's comments" may be added to error reports, to
aid in documenting errors.
- "Control" data can be updated automatically following test
execution if test functions have changed.

Year 2000 specific functions
-
-
Dynamic generation of date variables during test creation
and execution. Dates can be calculated by selecting
standard (supplied) functions, and unlimited additional
functions can be programmed" for installation specific
needs.
- "API" editor to create installation specific date routines
from TALC2000 library functions.
- "Before" and "After" date tables enable all test case
input and application "control data" date formats to be
changed dynamically from a single menu selection.
- "API" function provides a "hook" to allow special
routines to be called at any time during a test.
- Automatic editing of date fields in application
responses to reflect planned date format changes.
Installation specific tables control all editing.

Learning TALC2000
-
- Comprehensive context sensitive help is provided for all
functions.
- A formal two day "hands on" training course is available.
- Detailed, keystroke by keystroke training manuals
simplify the learning process.
